Episode: WHAT I WORE AND ATE: THANKSGIVING.

Thanksgiving Day has once again, come and gone.
In this episode of TALKFASHION TV you will see my own personal fashion creation, inspired by ginkgo trees, Fall, and Marie Antoinette.
It is a dress I handmade several years ago and it has become a yearly tradition for me to wear it at Thanksgiving dinner.

WHAT I WORE: Versailles

My style is entirely inspired by the grandeur, romance, whimsy, and mystique of Versailles. There is no place in the world that ignites my soul, and imagination, quite like Chateau de Versailles.

By borrowing from the old world, and mixing with the new, I feel my style is timelessly eclectic. 

WHAT I WORE:

The choker is by CHINE, and made of silk, faux fur, and vintage ornaments. It is quite similar to the chokers worn by Marie Antoinette and add a unique texture of glamour that is something quite different from a modern day necklace. 

The cardigan is by MOSCHINO and a vintage treasure! As soon as I found this turquoise delight I knew it belonged to me. Like roses bursting in the wind, it shares an air of whimsy that leaves me imagining leaves dancing along the winds of Versailles. 

My coat is created by one of my favorite Scandinavian brands, Noa Noa. I bought it several years ago in Antwerp and fell in love with it largely for the color, and delicate turquoise embroidery. 

There is something about the color palette of burgundy and turquoise that excites my eyes. It is unpredictable and yet pleasing. 

To my surprise, the color duo is found all over the Versailles interiors. 

My dress is by BCBG and is turquoise wrap dress adorned with short silk sleeves. The burgundy turtleneck is by Zara and a basic winter essential.

The boots are by Kenneth Cole and the softest, most comfortable boots I own. 

My gloves are simple vintage velvet in a red toned burgundy. 

What I Wore: "End of Harvest"

 

In the Spirit of Halloween, I spent the day not in a costume, but nevertheless, 'inspired' by it. 

Halloween was traditionally a Ancient Celtic Holiday which they marked as the end of the harvest season and the beginning of Winter. The transition represented the somber bridge connecting to the world of the dead. 

Of course now, such traditions are lost in buckets of candy, scary costumes and parties, but let us remember and be inspired by the true meaning of Halloween. 

My outfit was based around two colors: black representing death and mustard yellow orange inspired by life and harvest. 

                                              BRACELETS

These two bracelets are my most worn, and perhaps my favorite combination. The charm bracelet is from Harrod's in London, and the cuff of Marie Antoinette is handmade and sent from London. 

                                             EYEGLASSES

These are my FURLA tortoise eyeglasses, and I wear them on most days I have off. My eyesight has always been quite bad, and contacts have always given me headaches.

                                              SCARF

The scarf is all hand painted, and one of a kind from Thailand. It was a gift from my mother and it is  one of my most favorite pieces in my wardrobe. No longer simply a scarf, it is a piece of art. I am in love with all the little hand painted "aliens" that are all uniquely making different facial gestures. It's as if they are all trying to tell me something, but I simply do not know what. 

The scarf is a very large square shape, and is bordered in black fringe.

 I wore it, folded in half as a triangle, and tying it into a light bow at the back of the neck. 

                                        Crochet Necklace

This necklace was handmade in Belgium. I purchased it from a ART shop in Brussels, and love the quirky elements. The stars are all uniquely different, and they float in circular discs, that remind me of bubbles. 

                                          SHORTS

The shorts are vintage and they are high wasted. I fell in love with the textile which reminds me of falling golden stars or falling leaves.
