#NYFW: WATER AND LIGHT (MARCHESA SS 2017 REVIEW)

MARCHESA SS2017 is a celebration of the beautiful marriage between water and light. The water represents purity and the collections shifts its moods and colors, variated by the time of day.

The show begins in complete darkness and the gentle beauty of a string quartet. Simple notes vibrate through an uncomfortable silence, and repeated 3 times.

A gentle light is projected onto the runway with soft ripples representing water.

As if transported 30 ft under water, a gentle moonlit glow, transports the collection into another world.

MOONLIGHT

Moonlight represents mystery, beauty, and darkness. The contradiction between light and dark is magnetic, as it absorbs darkness and reflects light.

ROUGH WAVES

One may look at the carefully embroidered flower dresses and immediately think Spring gardens, however, for me, I see crashing waves before a storm.

The temperament of water is extremely varied and unique, based on water content and projection of sunlight, water adopts a whole new character.

SUNSETS

Sunsets represent love, warmth, and peace. The movement is gentle and relaxed. The gliding of the slow waters is soothing to eye and mind, and the beauty is undeniable.

A SPLASH OF WATER

Water movements, shapes, and textures are based on rhythms and waves, that pulse through it.

Like a wild splash of the clearest water, this MARCHESA gown is a refreshing delight for the eyes.

MET GALA 2014: Fashion Hits and Misses!

Met Gala 2014 was filled with fashion hits and misses, but in general, there was a feeling of "restriction" and boredom. Very few actually took any risks, and those who did, rarely got it right. The dress code of, "White tie plus accessories" was a far cry from last years theme, "Punk Chaos", and most celebrities seemed lost in what to do with such an orthodox theme.

Karolina Kurkova, in Marchesa was the "Belle" of the Ball. A perfect example of how you should dress to the Oscar's of Fashion.

Like a statuesque work of Art, Karolina was a blossoming bouquet of beauty, perfectly accessorized in diamonds, and a fresh chignon.

BLUSH PINK BEAUTIES

Blush Pink was a perfect choice for an evening celebrating a time of "innocence and feminity". There is something about this pink hue that is sensual in a classic way. It is provocative but controlled, making it a perfect choice for a "white tie" theme.

A woman needs to be neither weak nor submissive to look classic and elegant.

ZAC POSEN GIRLS

Zac Posen Girls, were all stunning! Perfectly accessorized for a night of class, and glamour.

The actual aesthetic of Posen is rather similar to Charles James, making his ladies perfectly on theme.

ARTSY RISK TAKERS

There are always dozens of risk takers at an event celebrating fashion, but very few actually can balance the fine line between "interesting" and crazy. These ladies took a risk, but managed to create beauty out of something quite different.

BLACK and WHITE DOMINATE

The abundance of black and white may make some jump to the conclusion that this is a TREND, but it is actually just a reaction on the "white tie" dress code.

Most people now a days have no idea about social "etiquette" or an era of time, when customs and traditions were in "fashion".

The idea of having to dress elegant, and classy, is obviously a challenge for young Hollywood, who have forgotten where true glamour originates. Elegance is not simply wearing classic black or white, it is an attitude, and grace from within.

POOR FIT

All three of these gowns are beautiful in their own right, however, the fit is all wrong. The cut of a dress must be perfectly customized to accentuate the female form. Katie Holmes Marchesa is gorgeous, but this is a classic case of the DRESS wearing the girl, rather than the GIRL is wearing the dress.

WORST DRESSED

Im not sure what happened here, but you have to appreciate these fashion flops that have you scratching your head in utter bewilderment.

Enchanted Rose Petals transform into Gorgeous Dresses!

Love-U-ary!: Day 4

"The Enchanted Red Rose"

There once was a girl who loved the color red. She was very spoiled, and never learned the art of sharing. Her closet was full of gorgeous Birkins, Louboutins, Valentino, everything in different shades of red. Her Beauty was like a rose, but her heart was sharp and prickly like thorns.

One day, a beggar arrived to her chateau. She was dirty, old and clothed in rags. She asked her, could she spare her a coat? Anything would do. The girl who had a closet full of coats, cardigans, shawls, furs, refused to part with any of them and threatened to call the police if she did not get off her property. The little beggar warned her, a life of selfishness is no life at all, but the girl just laughed and pushed her away. The old lady chanted a little spell in Latin, and then the girl transformed into a beautiful Rose.

A single enchanted red rose she was. Trapped. With every fallen petal, she magically transformed into another spectacular red dress. The most gorgeous, breath taking collection of dresses she became. This was her life now. Dress by dress she approached the fatal day. The day when the spell would be final and the last petal would fall. Forever trapped as beautiful red Dress.
