#NYFW: POLITICS and PRABAL GURUNG SS2017

PRABAL GURUNG's SS2017 Collection, sings a powerful tune of politics, and the importance of your vote.
As an avid supporter of Hilary Clinton, Gurung's collection is bursting with feminist energy, and the empowerment of women.
Subtle messages of hope, change and controversy, are carefully accented and intertwined throughout his entire collection.

"Hope is the thing with feathers
That perches in the soul
And sings the tune without the words
And never stops at all."

-Emily Dickinson

ISAIAH 58:1 KJV
"Cry aloud; Do not hold back; Lift up your voice like a trumpet; declare to my people their transgression, and the house of Jacob their sins.

"They threw things at me then but they were not roses."

-Susan B. Anthony

Undeniably, a serious undertone can be felt within his entire collection.
Largely focusing around a rather "Democratic" color palette, he showcases the ability for a woman to embrace their softness and femininity while working in harmony with a more powerful side.

Carefully choosing to end his collection with 3 pant suits, he opted out of an elaborate gown finale. Like a powerful walk into the future of Spring 2017, women are empowered and history will be made.

VOTE!

Prabal Gurung Spring 2014 NAILS!

Undeniably the most fantastic thing about Prabal Gurung's Spring 2014 Runway, were these fantastic Nails that graced the models.
Lets get one thing straight, all the rules of fashion have left the room, and nails have taken the same course. The canceling of rules, has left much room for creativity and exploration of fashion as a true art form.
These Nails are one of my personal favorites, simply because they remind me of my hands while I oil paint. Forget covering the full nail , and using simply patterns. Make a statement and brush one brush stroke down the middle, blending with other colors as you feel. Add bits of gold leaf and top coat with a bit of sparkle, and voila! Magical Whimsy.

Mixing and Matching Graphic Black-White

Wearing classic black and white is nothing new. It is a sure way to always look polished and classic. However, lately, new textures, textiles, and graphics has given a new life to this classic duo.

From Pucci to Burberry, all the designers cannot seem to get enough of black and white. Used in the coolest, most innovative ways, the best part is, all these unique textures can and should be mixed together. Never clashing too harshly, it is quirky, smart, and interesting.

Whether it be a graphic tee, leggings, or a black and white handbag, play around with these combinations and be inspired to stretch your fashion limits.

PR 2014: Key pieces to Channel Your Inner Marilyn

When we think of Marilyn Monroe we instantly think back to her infamous white halter dress. However, how do you really channel Marilyn the girl and not the icon? Here are the key pieces to add a bit of Marilyn in your daily style.

1) Chanel No. 5 Perfume.
Marilyn is famously known for saying in an interview, that  she only wears chanel No. 5 to bed.

2) Coral Red Lipstick and Nails:
Nobody wore these sexy lips quite like Marilyn. Never leaving the house without the coordinating duo, she was the symbol of "Sexy".

3) Classic Black Louboutin Pump:
Although Marilyn did not techinically wear Louboutin, I am certain if she were alive now, she would. The sexy red sole is so Marilyn and accents her classic style perfectly.

4)Cropped Black top:
Marilyn's style is actually quite on current Trend. She often sported a 3/4 sleeve cropped black top. Although most people remember her as the vixen who always showed her decote, she was much more reserved in her private style.

5)Cropped White Pants:
Also another current trend, I picked a  Prabal Gurung to celebrate her love for a good cropped pant. The style is modern while still classic.

6) Cat Eye Black Sunnies:
Nothing says Marilyn quite like these fabulous sunglasses from Chanel. She was shy by nature and always not too far from hiding behind a pair of these.

7) Bouncy Hair and Lashes:
Lastly, always curl your locks to get that bouncy, flirty Marilyn hair. Finish off with Mascara and eyeliner.
