#NYFW: WATER AND LIGHT (MARCHESA SS 2017 REVIEW)

MARCHESA SS2017 is a celebration of the beautiful marriage between water and light. The water represents purity and the collections shifts its moods and colors, variated by the time of day.

The show begins in  complete darkness and the gentle beauty of a string quartet. Simple notes vibrate through an uncomfortable silence, and repeated 3 times.
A gentle light is projected onto the runway with soft ripples representing water.
As if transported 30 ft  under water, a gentle moonlit glow, transports the collection into another world.

MOONLIGHT

Moonlight represents mystery, beauty, and darkness. The contradiction between light and dark is magnetic, as it absorbs darkness and reflects light.

ROUGH WAVES

One may look at the carefully embroidered flower dresses and immediately think Spring gardens, however, for me, I see crashing waves before a storm.
The temperament of water is extremely varied and unique, based on water content and projection of sunlight, water adopts a whole new character.

SUNSETS

Sunsets represent love, warmth, and peace. The movement is gentle and relaxed. The gliding of the slow waters is soothing to eye and mind, and the beauty is undeniable.

A SPLASH OF WATER

Water movements, shapes, and textures are based on rhythms and waves, that pulse through it.
Like a wild splash of the clearest water, this MARCHESA gown is a refreshing delight for the eyes.

The Fashion of Lights

Light partnered with darkness, has mesmerized humans since the beginning of time. Like stars that dance through the darkness of night, fashion illuminated, holds no limits.

Unlike fabric or structured materials, the natural nature of lights, can illuminate the positive while blending the negative into the darkness. Mimicking limitless structures, illusions, and whimsical mystery, one cannot help but debate what is real and what is not.

The movement of light, and the rhythm it holds, is a unique characteristic for designers to play with. It gives fashion the ability to feel and react. The experience of fashion is no longer stagnant but an ever evolving display of virtual style.

Involving lights into what we wear, awakens a new visual sense. it heightens new possibilities of creativity and stretches the boundaries of what we know, and where we can go.

Like light, life holds no limits. It is only in the boundaries of darkness, that our possibilities lie hidden.

Fall Daily: Candle Light Inspired Style

There is nothing quite like the gentle glow of a softly lit candle. It is a romantic combination of fragility and power. Similar to love, it is capricious and unpredictable.
Just as easily as it can be blown out, it can also burn into a raging flame of destruction. It is a beauty that requires a playful balance between dark and light, climaxing only in complete partnership.

Wouldn't it be amazing to achieve such appeal in your Fall fashion style?

CANDLE LIGHT STYLE

Candle light Style, is inspired by pulling the 3 most beautiful aspects of Candle Light.

1.) Color
The main colors of candlelight is an ombre effect around the color orange. It ranges from orange modulating shades towards white and in reverse towards black.

(Basic colors: Orange, burnt orange, copper, brown, black, yellow, white, and some golds.)

2.) Power and Femininity
Candle lit style is a combination of powerful mystery, and ultra femininity. It is in this aspect a lone that candle light style is unbelievably romantic and sexy. You can achieve this style by mixing soft materials with harsher accessories, or vice versa.
For example, a romantic soft boho, cream colored blouse, against harsh chocolate brown leather pants, bridged together with the warmth of beautiful orange accessories, is candle light style.

3.) Sparkle and Light
The beauty of candle light is obviously the light itself. Therefore, to achieve the style it involves some form of sparkle, glimmer, or shine. You can either add the glimmer through your make up, and allow your face to shine like a chandelier. Or you could use jewelry or accessories to playful maneuver the reflection of lights.

Enjoy!
