Blogmas Day 4: A Winter Secret

In a world dying to be perfect, and cloning ourselves to be just like everyone else, snowflakes whisper the secret style tips on phenomenal style. 

What makes a snowflake a natural phenomena?

 Individualism.

No two snowflakes in the world are found to be the same. The possible snowflake patterns are infinite. This is how nature works. Just like the fingerprints on our hands, varying circumstance create various outcomes.

The thing is, snowflakes follow different journeys through the clouds, and thus the patterns are represented in it's own unique way. 

A snow crystal may begin as a tiny hexagonal prism, but as it flies through the clouds,varying temperatures and humidity, variate possibilities of individualism and artistry.

So what's this ultra secret message sent from the sky?

You may not see the beauty in your own individualism, but wanting to dress or be exactly like someone else, is the equivalent to a plastical ornamental snowflake. You may look similar to it but you hold no essence of it. 

Just like a snow crystal, your experiences, thoughts, emotions, and ideas are individual. These are characteristics that will help you develop your secret formula of style. Society will tell you to be cookie cutter and do as everyone else does. However, fight the urge, and embrace your ability to be phenomenal.

Breaking the Fashion Stereotype

The "Fashion Stereotype", is basically the views of society that fashion people, are some how, vain, empty-headed vessels that only care about how they look. 

I wish I could say this was completely false, but unfortunately, many fashion lovers have a misconception that it's all about what you wear and what you look like. This attitude leads to wanting whatever is the most expensive and some how buying your self a higher status. This is what needs to change. People need to understand fashion should not be used as a system of hierarchy where money reigns supreme and identity can be bought.

 Defining yourself through fashion, is a process of self discovery. After all what is the purpose of life if not to find ourselves? Our days are packed full with work, responsibilities, paying bills, etc. Who has time anymore to figure out who the heck we really are? The fact is, just because you are successful and make a lot of money, it does not mean you have a clue about this person called, me, myself, and I. 

Knowing how to dress yourself is a lesson in life that everyone should go through. It is not about being the prettiest or the sexiest but knowing what feels right for you. What colors do you like? What fabrics? What designers seems to read your mind and produce garments your soul desires? What kind of clothes makes you feel like you?

 The problem is, so many women believe they have no talent when it comes to fashion and therefore no business even trying. However, just like anything in life, difficult does not mean impossible. The root of the problem is always yourself, and taking time to figure out the mess inside is something we all hate to do. 

The truth about fashion is, it is what you make of it. If you want to buy the most expensive designers simply because it labels you as wealthy, then that is what defines you. It will work as a glamorous mask that hides the contents of who you are. However, if you choose to dress in a style that celebrates your inner being into your outer style, the mind and soul will combine to emerge your inner BUTTERFLY. This is when you become unforgettable. 

Who is Krikor Jabotian!?

It is unbelievable to me, that I am just discovering this amazing designer, and more celebrities do not flock to him to wear his amazing creations! Every couture gown so intricately adorned, and utterly feminine. I have completely fallen in love with all his creations, and have decided to showcase his work in today's post.

Who is Krikor Jabotian? 

Krikor Jabotian is a Lebanese-Armenian designer who graduated from L'Ecole Superieure des Arts et de la Mode in Beirut. He began his career working for the famed house of Elie Saab. He soon branched out independently and was supported by, Starch foundation, to debut his first collection under his own name. 

After the success of his first collection, at the ripe age of 23 he set up his own atelier.

Ballet Goes High Fashion

Ballet is the symbol of grace, femininity and beauty. It is no surprise that fashion would take notice and turn it into high fashion. Alexander McQueen Winter Collection

Alexander McQueen's Winter Collection took place in the gilded interior of the Opera Comique. Few recieve an invitation, a simple white card, to the smallest show, comprised of only 50 seats. Sarah Burton, designer of the infamous collection was not present. Having given birth to twin daughters, she was inspired by the ecclesiastical wardrobe of communion gowns and cardinals’ robes. This was the high church incarnate, recalling nuns, popes, angels, the Ballet Russes and the Virgin Queen. There were just 10 looks, presented in pairs. The first were dressed in virginal white cotton organdy, their waists cinched in solid silver, their arms adorned with billowing frilled sleeves, their skirts stood away from their bodies, presumably by way of corsetry and hooped underskirts, were startlingly obsessively detailed; ruffs at their necks, heads encased in gilded frames of pearls, white lace stockings and silver platform heels. The second pair arrived in black studded leather, from their necks to their toes, which were encased in long matching studded boots. Softness appeared in look five and six, their corsets adorned with multiple rivulets of pearls that fell into sweeping trains at the back. On their legs fishnets, of sorts, speckled with pearls. Then for the Virgin Queen in all her golden corseted glory, her arms and legs having disappeared beneath huge sleeves and floor-sweeping skirt from which raw threads wafted. The skirt itself was decorated in rhombic grids of gold. This creation was nothing short of audacious in its craftsmanship. Any museum would be lucky to display it, any film blessed to use it. Sarah Burton can cut a wicked sharp-shouldered jacket and a mean pencil skirt, gorgeous coats, featherlight angel dresses and of course the most beautiful wedding gowns. These so-called ready-to-wear shows have long been about more than mere clothes – for that, you’d have to visit the showroom where, we are reliably informed, there are somewhere between 400 and 500 pieces intended for the shop. She reserves these occasions to present the results of her incubated ideas – always far-reaching, always otherworldly, always erotically charged. They are in that sense not ready-to-wear, but couture – delivered with that same level of exquisite finish and detail. Burton did, however, end on a white dress made from organza lace jacquard, then embroidered and pearled, with a short hem at the front cascading into a fine net train, encrusted with miniscule pearls. On top, she wore duck and ostrich feathers. On her feet, matching pearl and feather sandals.
