3 Ways to Boost Your Confidence With Fashion

It doesn't matter how smart, beautiful, or popular you may be, we all suffer from confidence.
Insecurities flood our day to day life, and a little armor could help all of us.
Here are my top 3 tips on boosting confidence through fashion!

1.) Have Pride:
Start by taking pride in how you represent yourself. Don't slouch, look at the floor, and hope your demure sweat suit will somehow allow you to blend into the wall, and remain invisible. No matter how much you may try to convince yourself you do not care, it is effecting your confidence.
If you currently have no money, focus your effort on making sure the basics are covered. Keep your clothes clean, ironed, and organized. The recipe for more confidence, is not in buying more but to care more. Always put enough effort in your look that you can look at your reflection in the mirror and give yourself a thumbs up. Don't be negative, don't compare, just have enough pride that you can face the world with your head held up.

2.) Clothes that Make You Happy:
There is something mystical about certain clothing that bring you so much joy. As a child, and even now, I love full A-line skirts that swoosh as I twirl or walk. So much joy can come out of a fashion piece like this and these are the "golden" fashion pieces of your wardrobe. It does NOT matter if other people  may hate it, or mock you for wearing it. Do NOT let them take a way the joy that a certain T-shirt or dress may bring. Instead, take it as a challenge, on how you can style an outfit around that funky T-shirt, or misunderstood dress.
Wearing what makes you happy, makes you feel good. Feeling good, will boost your mood, and power. Cherish how you feel first and then judge what you end up looking like. You can always tweak an outfit at the final step.

3.) Accessories!
One of the biggest problems in having style, is taking an outfit from "blah" to WOW! With most people living multifunctional lives, their wardrobe is usually comfortable and boring. A lot of plain shirts, jeans and predictable style. If you want an easy quick way to take a simple boring outfit, and hit it with some personality, invest in accessories! Whether it be statement jewelry, scarves, hats, gloves, or belts, it is the quickest way to add zest to your look and push you from the background straight to center stage.

Enjoy.

Giorgio Armani Spring Collection 2014

Giorgio Armani Spring/Summer 2014 is Magnificent! From hair, make up, jewels, and handbags, the entire collection is dreamy, magical, and from another world.

His usage of soft pastels, with a tint of grey undertones, give a mysterious quality of a midsummer night. The glistening bejeweled clutch adds the right amount of glamour and sparkle, to keep your eye transfixed.
Perhaps, one of my favorite pieces to his collections are the beaded chiffon pieces. I especially look forward to adding this to my own collection, and wearing it in the day with a casual tee and jeans. Smoke my eye out at night and wear it with a simple LBD.

Armani's usage of amazing textiles, and shapes are reminiscent to water. This cute little, waist pinching cardigan, can be worn with practically everything.

Moonlight Blue. His collection has the most beautiful usage of cobalt and cerulean blue. It made me imagine a beautiful lake glistening under the moonlight. Magical.

Accessories, included plastic like bangles that reflect light. Purses, are of different types of leather, mostly clutches.

Most of the models wore these big, bold, circular blue earrings, with matching blue sandals.

Notice the detail in his collection. From the carefully beaded chiffon skirt to the clutch adorned with crystal rhinestones.

The wavy water effect is again noticeable, and provides a cool, harmonious effect to a rather bold color.

Armani has perfectly captured the beautiful effects of sparkling water. A magical dress, with intricate bead work, providing bursts of sparkling light with every step.

BRAVO! A unbelievable collection that has grabbed my heart and given me new inspiration!
LOVE!

How do I Tie My Scarf?

Scarf Season has arrived! Here are 12 interesting ways to style your scarf this Fall! Enjoy. :) xx -M 1.) Wrap and Tuck. This Scarf style has the same effect as a man's necktie. It is a perfect style to use when sporting jeans, and sweater. 2.)Butterfly. This elegant look is perfect for those scarfs with a different color from front to back. Would look amazing with a tight black turtle neck and black pencil skirt. 3.) Wrap around. A loose, relaxed way to wear your scarf. Perfectly with flowy outfits. 4.) Necklace Scarf. The easiest way to add style and glamour to a scarf is looping it into a necklace. Try this look on your evenings out. 5.)Standard. This unstyled way is perfect for those outfits that dont want to be fussy but just need a punch of color or textures. 6.)Bow it. A super quirky cute way to add charm to your look. It is especially adorable, with pleated short skirts, peplum tops. 7.) Vest like. Simply drape your heavier scarfs around your neck, and belt your waste and voila, you get the effect of a sweater vest. 8.)Sexy top. This will need a bigger scarf shaped as a Square. Tie behind your neck, and wrap around your waste. 9.)Knot. Simply knotting the end is cute and practical. It prevents your scarf from flying away and still adds a nice texture to your look. 10.)Braided. This scarf style is like an inverted braid. Wrap around your neck, take the two sides and tuck one over the other through the loop. 11.) Belt. Why limit belts as the only way to show off your waste? 12.) Loop and pull. This is perhaps the most popular way to wear scarve. simply take the side with loop and tuck in the ends.

Rockin' and Roses!

If you love roses as much as I do, you are in luck this season. Designers from Valentino, YSL, to Lanvin, have created a spring trend for Fall. Never have roses looked warmer and more seductive. Violets, roses or peonies, don't be afraid to rock them out with some black tights, boots, and dark crimson lips. Just keep in mind the Autumn color palette, and prevent the pastel freshness of Spring. Take care and stay warm! xx -M

Fall Color Palette

Have you ever thought about the colors you wear for each season? If you are like me, and grew up in a place without seasons and constant sun, it may be hard to understand how fashion must change as the seasons do. It was only when I moved to New York and then Europe, where I understood the beauty of how mother earth changes the temperature which change the colors of our planet. During the Fall, the trees change colors, to the most beautiful hues of crimson yellow, burgundy red, meadow green, pumpkin orange, etc.,this is what makes Fall so special. Beauty in Nature is reflected in fashion. Put away your pastels, till spring, and rock the amazing Autumn colors.

Fall Handbag Must Have

What better reason to buy a new handbag than the arrival of the most fantastic Fall Handbags! From reptile print, studs, and chained straps, the trends are here. All you really need is one fantastic Fall handbag, and let it be the inspiration of your whole Fall wardrobe. If all you can afford is one, here are some tips to help you. First, check your wardrobe. What colors do you see the most? If you wear mostly neutrals or black, then go for a artsy bag, with a bold statement. If your closet is filled with print, and textures, opt for a bag with a neutral color that will not compete, but compliment your look. If you live in a colder climate and always need to wear a coat, match your handbag with the coat of choice. After you pick which handbag, start accessorizing! xx - m

Fall Make-up Straight from the Runway

It is time to take your pinky pinks and beachy corals, and put them aside. Fall is here, and this means its time for warm earth tones and bewitching jewel tones. The 2 Fall must haves are, 1) a dark burgundy/red lipstick 2) a warm jewel or earth tone eye shadow. Lips: Now is the time to pull out your sexy red lips. Normally the rule is to wear a darker red during fall, and a brighter one near Winter/Xmas. Eyes: Smoke them out. One tip is to balance the power of eyes vs. lips. If you are wearing a strong lip, then wear a smoke earth toned eyeshadow. If you want to wear a bold jewel toned eyeshadow, stick to a lip tint, or gloss xx -m

Animal Print!

Now that Fall is here, do you ever wonder, how you can spice up your look? Sometimes I have those days where I am sick of wearing my typical look and expected outfits. The quickest way I quirk up a look is by wearing my leopard ballet flats. Currently my go to outfit is: favorite pearl earings, black boat neck top, tight black jeggings, Red Burberry bag and leopard flats. Without these flats, the look is completely ordinary, you will be surprised what a little animal print can do for you. xx - m

Travel Style!

Hi dolls! When we travel, most of us think, long hours, stuffy cramped chairs, and uncomfortable airports. of course this means, fashion flies out the door, and slumpy hot mess here we come. I'm here to say, "No!" You can look amazing and still be comfortable. Proudly sport a face with no make up, but still look great! My recommendations are leggings, and a cool loose oversized funky tee. I prefer 100% cotton made of jersey, it is the best and most comfortable. On top of that a nice fitted blazer of choice. You will also need a scarf to protect you from getting a chill, sometimes the airconditions are crazy in the aircraft. If you have contacts, dont wear them, they will just burn out your eyeballs. This is the time to pull out those funky eyeglasses, and put your hair up in a crazy bun. have a nice sized messenger bag, and slap on some lip balm and moisturizer! You are now a jet setting fashionista. As far as shoes, if you are brave, and can handle a high heel, opt for a flat platform, but as for me, I jut wear some cute ballet flats . xo and happy traveling! - Maya

Style Tip 5: How to style a look around your shoe!

Hello darlings. We have all experienced the moment where we stand in front of our closet and say the famous words, "I have nothing to wear". The truth is, you have more than enough clothing, but you just lack inspiration. When you simply cannot think of an outfit in your head, look to your shoes for some help. Try to find your most unique pair and work an outfit around it. If all your shoes are strictly black or nothing interesting, and you have no money to go buy yourself a new pair, there are tons of DIYs on YouTube to help you out. One idea would be to paint the bottom of your shoe any color. Christian Louboutin is famous for the RED soles, and it adds instant sex appeal. Choose any color you like and paint away. From here we are ready to begin styling an outfit. Let's start out by assuming you have a very ordinary black stiletto, and you decided to paint the sole a classic red to mimic a Louboutin. From there you could be inspired to put peeks of sexy red in your accessories. Maybe wear a classic Black and White dress, with Ruby red lips, and a red bag. Whatever outfit you choose, I would choose a RED accessory. Whether it be a belt, jewelry, a scarf or a bag. Be careful not to over do it. Remember it is sexy because there is only a peekaboo of red. Have fun with it! Xo Maya

Styling Tip 4: How to Layer Necklaces

Hello darlings! One of the quickest ways to bring your "look" to the next level is by using statement jewelry. I often layer my jewelry and then have that inspire the rest of the outfit. Layering at first can be a bit tricky so I have some helpful tips to help you from looking like a Christmas tree. *Tip* The jewelry you layer should somehow make sense. If you have never layered jewelry, start out by matching same materials or colors. For example, all gold, or all beads, or all black...etc. *Tip* Lengths. Play with different lengths when layering.one choker, one long, etc. *Tip* If you use one bulky statement piece, the rest should accompany it. Think a little longer, and lighter. *Tip* Keep your outfit simple. When you make such a statement with your jewelry, keep your outfit and shoes neutral or one color. Let your Jewelry be the featured piece of Art. If you can't decide, just wear head to toe black and have some crazy statement jewelry. *Tip* Be Creative! Trust your eye. Think outside of what you know, and bring out your inner Fashionista! Xo Maya

Style Tip 3 : How to Style "Boyfriend's White Shirt"

Hello dolls! My favorite wardrobe staple is the white buttoned down shirt! It is the most versatile clothing item and can change almost every look. I suggest you buy one that is made well, and fits you in a flattering way. The title " boyfriends white shirt" doesnt mean to go get a man's shirt. You should get one that fits you snuggly, so you can layer things over it without looking bulky. *TIP* Statement jewelry! They are a quick way to tie in a white shirt with a skirt, or a dress. *Tip* Layer. Wear a cool t-shirt or crop top over it and you can easily transition summer favorites into fall. *TIP* Flirty dresses. Don't be scared to wear your shirt under a girly dress. It will add some quick boyish charm and contradict the sweetness. *Tip* Strapless. Don't be scared to pull out your strapless tops or dresses. It is a quick way to warm up your favorite dresses from summer into fall. *Tip* Play around. Keep an open mind. Have fun with playing around with my favorite wardrobe piece! Xo maya
