KIM KARDASHIAN'S VIRAL EFFECT ON #FASHION WEEK ?

Kim Kardashian is a media mogul and with over 84 million Instagram followers she is social media royalty. Seen at nearly every major fashion show of SS 2017, Kim K's presence weighed heavily at this years fashion week.

What are the pros and cons?

PROS

Publicity, publicity, publicity!
The sole purpose for inviting Kim Kardashian, is for her undeniably strong media power. Whether it be her reality show, or her social media platforms, one tweet, photo, or shout-out, can yield instant success.
In other words, MONEY can be made.

CONS

Drama, drama, drama!
Oh, the drama! There is no surprise that a seasoned reality pro will be dragging a LOT of drama everywhere she goes.
Take for example,  her recent robbery during Paris Fashion week.
Media coverage normally warranted to the biggest fashion houses of Paris, were completely out shined by the chaos over her multi million dollar heist.
Everywhere the Kardashian clan arises there is a media circus that causes chaos, confusion and misdirection.

So the question is,
how beneficial is Kim Kardashian's presence at Fashion Week?

Lets think for one second, not with our wallets, but with our minds and our artistic souls. How much do we sell, until we realize we have nothing left?  Every #NYFW, or fashion review, has some form of Kardashian take over, and it leaves you questioning, the price that fashion has paid.
Is it really worth the publicity, if fashion itself, dies in the social media game?

A "King's Tea Time" at ANGELINA

A King's Tea Time

For the celebration of Louis the XIV, Chateau de Versailles exclusively designed a very special gourmet treat fit for a "King's Tea Time".

Includes:
Hot Beverage
Assortment of mini pastries
Macaroons and madeleines

ANGELINA HOT CHOCOLATE

ANGELINA is famous for their decadent hot chocolate, and by far my favorite in the world.
I must admit, a nice cup of tea would have accompanied the "King's TEA time", much more harmoniously.
Together it was all a bit too sweet, but nevertheless a most regal past time. Be sure to try this most decadent collection if visiting Chateau Versailles this year!

Paris Is About Life

For those of you who are long time readers of Talk Fashion, are aware of my love for France.
My heart, once set on fire by this breathtaking city of lights, it is electric, breathtaking and unforgettable. Paris is LIFE.
Unlike anywhere else in the world, Paris is buzzing with dreams, beauty, and love. Supremely poetic, and infinitely free in artistic nature, it is no surprise it is a strong leader of fashion, literature, art, and music. The attack on such a place of "Life" is the biggest tragedy of all.

Such a tragedy in a social media world, has quickly led the world to send prayers under the #prayforfrance . However, should we really pray for France?

Interestingly enough, French cartoonist, and ex Charlie Hebdo artist, Joann Sfar, has asked the world not to pray for the city of lights, but rather understand what paris is really about.

#parisisaboutlife

Rejecting prayers from around the world is controversial, and it is no surprise that it has stirred quite a global debate.
Sfar brings an interesting point about how we easily create hashtags about things we know nothing about. "Praying" for an issue revolving around religion itself, is logically not the most sensitive nor smartest choice of words. However, do any of us actually think beyond what we feel, and what we want to do? Perhaps, largely this very human characteristic is the cause of most of our problems.
Sending thoughts of love is a beautiful thing, but, creating a positive change requires global empathy and universal understandings. Research the real issues of how and what is happening to our world. Write about it, speak about it, and together, lets find REAL solutions.

Take care, be safe, and spread love. #parisisaboutlife

Fashion Challenge Day 12: OOTD "My Heart is French"

Day 12 is still finding myself missing France. For me, French style, is artistic, feminine, elegant, and natural. I can remember walking down whimsical little streets in Paris, and stumbling across the most wonderful boutiques filled with the most beautiful accessories. The women in France, are stylish in their ability to add their own accessories and thus making a look their own. Whether it be a belt, a hat, a hair accessory, style seems to always celebrate their own beauty.

The hair band/hat that I am wearing is from France, and it is adorned with ostrich and peacock feathers. The belt was found in Belgium at Zara. The dress is Tadashi and boots by Valentino.

Flashback Friday: Afternoon in France

Walking the parks of France during Fall is a feast for the eyes. If there is anything I miss the most about Europe it would be this very place at this very time. Like an everlasting dream, I remember...

For this "Flashback Friday", join me down memory lane, for an afternoon in France.

My style in the colder months of Fall is inspired by the colors found in Nature. Recieving almost all my inspiration from trees and the colors found in the changing leaves, my style is cohesive with the environment I am surrounded by. On the practical side, I layer sweaters over sweaters,  to stay warm. A dear friend once called my style, "like a cabbage", which still makes me laugh to this very day.

                                            THE SCARF

The Scarf was made by me, and also the first scarf I have ever knitted. I was inspired to make it because I could not find a scarf in the stores that fit my vision. I really wanted a scarf that celebrated the beautiful variations of greens found in changing leaves. It is made of wool and cashmere, and is embellished with beads, and softly hand embroidered leaves.

                                             THE BAG

The bag is by VALENTINO and one my favorite bags to wear during Fall. I simply love it because it is a golden yellow. For me, the yellow golds that flutter through the air during the Autumn months are simply breath taking.

                                          The HEADBAND

The Headband is by Evita Peroni, and is made of Swarovski crystal beads. I must admit, it is my version of a tiara for the modern day woman.

                                          ANGELINA (Paris)

Angelina is a legendary Tea House established in 1903 for Parisian aristocracy. Such legends as Proust and Coco Chanel have rubbed shoulders with the biggest names of fashion in Angelina's Salons.

The famous African hot chocolate is composed of three selections of African cocoa from Niger, Ghana, and Côte d'Ivoire. The chocolate mixture is an ANGELINA  specialty and is an experience that cannot be missed.

Iconic for their pastries, my favorite was this pistachio and strawberry cream puff. The little surprises found in it's layers are a visual delight.

France is my love, and my most special place in the world. In my heart that is where I stay....

FRANCE: Top 5 Fashion Designers

                                      CHRISTIAN LACROIX
"Personally I've always hovered between the purity of structures and the ecstasy of ornament," says the designer who brought Rococo back to couture."
                                                         -Christian Lacroix
1.) CHRISTIAN LACROIX is a fashion genius. Debuting his couture collection back in 1987, he has dazzled the world ever since.  His masterpieces are well known for his eye for detail, vibrancy, movement, and use of color. His creations have even extended onto famous concert stages as master costume designer for famous ballet and opera prodution.
Lacroix who once studied to be a museum curator at The Sorbonne and the Ecole du Louvre, had extensive knowledge in Art and it influenced his fashion designs greatly. You can often see influences from 18 th century artists Boucher, Fragonard or Nattier who painted bustles, bows, corsets and crinolines on the women in their paintings. You can also notice the influence of Toulouse-Lautrec's can-can dancers and gypsies who often wore ruffles, feathers and fringes.
Lacroix has worked for fashion houses, Hermes, Guy Paulin, Patou, and as Creative Diretor of Pucci.

                                    JOHN PAUL GAULTIER

"Fashion is about what you look like, which translates to what you would be like."
-John Paul Gaultier

2.) JOHN PAUL GAULTIER, formerly referred to as 'enfant terrible' of French Fashion, has always been highly controversial. He trained under legendary fashion house Piere Cardin and Jean Patou.
In 1976 he launched his own collection receiving mixed reviews. His iconoclastic designs featuring male skirts, corsetry worn as outerwear, and tattoo body stockings, were a shock to classic Parisian Fashion.
He became world famous after creating a salmon pink corset with conical bra cups for Madonna's Blonde Ambition tour in 1990.
A master of creating scandal and shock, do not be quick to judge the value in his talent. A genius of design, he even created a unique exhibition at the Fondation Cartier in Paris entitle Pain Couture.
The showcase was constructed entirely of bread.

                                           SONIA RYKIEL

"My shows are about the complete woman who swallows it all. It's a question of survival."
Sonia Rykiel

3.) SONIA RYKIEL has been dubbed, 'Queen of Knits'. During her pregnancy, she realized it was impossible to find sweaters that were soft and flexible. This discovery lead to her own line of knitwear, and it was so successful that she opened her first boutique that very year.
Rykiel revolutionized knitwear by freeing the female body from  stiff silhouettes. Her knits had movement and were  flattering to the female form. She also increased the sex appeal of knits by freeing linings and hems.  Rykiel dresses and sweaters were like second skins and celebrated feminine form.
In 2001, the French government named her Commandeur de l'Ordre National du Merite. The grande dame of French fashion, shows no signs of slowing down, and continues to impress the world with her amazing designs.

                                       NICOLAS GHESQUIERE
"Fashion is a playground up until a certain age, but then you have to find your own signature and your own style." -Nicolas Ghesquiere

4.) NICOLAS GHESQUIERE is creative director of Balenciaga since 1997. When he was first appointed to Balenciaga he was relatively unknown. He had previously worked at agnes b. and Corinne Cobson while still at school in central France. He then became assistant designer to Jean Paul Gaultier and Mugler. This lead to his rather short placement, as head designer of Trussardi. It was from there that he was appointed head designer designer of Balenciaga and began his fearless pursuit of reviving the entire brand. He made green silk combat pants and Neoprene mini skirts iconic. Not to be fooled by his Hollywood good looks, he is a designer with a unique eye for shapes, textures and female form. He was most recently appointed Creative Director of Louis Vuitton.

                                     CHRISTOPHE LEMAIRE

"I always take time so I can distance myself from things that are too fashionable. As a designer I aim for an accessible balance between beauty and function to create a vision of contemporary 'easy wearing'".Christophe Lemaire

CHRISTOPHE LEMAIRE describes his own style  as "graphic, pure, relaxed and precise". He is always concerned about lines and avoiding trends. His genius is in finding balance between fashion and wearability. A master of creating clothing that is always classic and never outdated.

Lemaire, began his career assisting Yves Saint Laurent, Thierry Mugler, and Jean Patou. Through Jean Patou he later met Christian Lacroix who later appointed him head designer of his own womens ready wear line. In 2001 he became creative director of Lacoste. He revitalized Lacosted by injecting his contemoporary, fresh style into tennis skirts, polo shirts, and college gumpers. Lemaire often mixes Western classics with unique eghnic pieces. in 2010 he was appointed creative director of womenswear for Hermes.

Madly in Love with Valentino Couture Spring 2014!

Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli are Roman designers, heading the masterful Valentino Couture Collection. Like delicate pieces of art, they received their inspiration  from the Operas in Rome. From theater production to the intricate costume designs, inspiration came in musical form. The usage of musical notes draped across a nude, light evening dress, is innovation at its finest.

“The artisanal tradition strongly relates to the basis of what we do in couture.” Allora: The pathways the models trod on in Paris were hand-painted canvases by the man who does the theater sets in Rome.

Like little ballerinas's, the collection was soft, elegant, and extremely delicate. With every passing tutu, it was as if you entered a different time, and beauty was of another class.

How to be La Parisienne Chic

Why love Parisian fashion?
The fashionable girls of Paris do not wear fashion, but they ARE fashion.
From the walk, to the attitude, they tell a fashion story with every step.
Do not be afraid to be different. Take current trends and make them your own. This is Fashion. Mix and match textures and accent with colorful belts. Always add your personal touch to every look.
