Fall Daily: 5 Costume Ideas from Breakfast at Tiffany's

Halloween is just 3 days away, and despite no longer being a child, dressing up as someone else is always a fun thing to do. Inspired by Breakfast at Tiffany's, I picked 5 favorite looks that would make excellent halloween costumes. Not quite "scary" as costumes, but does it really matter? In the states, Halloween is not limited to scary, and pretty much every type of costume is acceptable.
This year, don't waste your money buying a cheap made costume. Rummage through your closet and get creative.

                              BREAKFAST AT  TIFFANYS

We all have a simple black dress, but this look also requires several strands of pearls. This is a very popular look to copy, but for some reason no one is ever holding a coffee and croissant. This rather annoys me, because, "hello?" the title is "Breakfast" at Tiffany's. Don't forget your breakfast!

                            GORGEOUS PINK BOMBSHELL

Lets be honest, this look is perfect for those who just want to look fabulous for Halloween.
When asked, you can bring up your fancy Breakfast at Tiffany's knowledge, but it's not necessarily a costume.

                                        FOXY LADY

This costume idea is perfect for those who are at work all day and then have to immediately go to a Halloween party. It is chic, sophisticated, and yet playful. It is a mature style of Halloween, but nevertheless still enough fun to make your night memorable.
If you do not have a fox mask, you can easily make one yourself.

                                        DIY FOX MASK

                                  CHIC  SLEEPY GIRL

This look requires three elements: an oversized white shirt, turquoise eye cover, and fancy ear plugs. The eye cover, can easily be made by paper, while the earplugs can be recreated by using earplugs, and gluing tassels to them.

                                         MOON RIVER

Possibly the most comfortable costume ever, all you need are sweats, a towel, and a guitar. If you can hum a bit of "Moon River" , even better.

Fall Daily: "Ordinary is Out. Choose to Be Interesting."

Life is all about finding a place to belong. We naturally crave acceptance, and the easiest way to achieve it, is to follow the pack. Dare to do anything off the grid and risk being outcasted. This is the world we live in, and the natural course of what we do.
Why is this a problem? When you are stuck in this mold of what is "popular", you limit your own creative skills, and ability to think on your own.
When was the last time you thought about what you like without fear of judgement or outside influence? When we are kids, our intuition is raw, and it is easy to act without fear. As we grow and experience life, it gets more difficult to keep our spirits free, and think on our own. We are good at following directions and trusting what we are told to believe. However, when are we going to step out of that zombie trance and start thinking for ourselves?

Why does the world need you to be interesting?

Believe it or not, people are observing you, and your bold act of bravery, will inspire others do so too. In the fashion world, it is the "odd balls" that become the muse. They inspire creativity and new ideas. Challenge yourself and you challenge others, this is how the world should function. Don't listen to trends, there is no such thing. Bring something new to the table, and help the fashion world evolve in a more inspiring way.

How can you be Interesting?

Interesting is not to be mistaken as "being different, for the sake of being different". It is the ability to incorporate your unique character into your style. It maybe ridiculous, scary, strange, beautiful or weird, but whatever you call it, you should be one of a kind. There are no rules in fashion as long as you stay true to who you are. The process of figuring out who that person is, will be a guaranteed journey that keeps you interesting!

Fall Daily: Adorable Autumn Street Style!

Just as nature burns with Autumnal delight, the street style around the world, is booming with fashion!
Personal style is at an ultra high, and an attitude of confidence mixed with playfulness is this seasons highlight!
Women are emerging as unique, and embracing their inner style.
From flannel, to vintage patterns, all kinds of personal touches can be seen in this new movement towards individuality.

My Top 5 Fall Inspirations:

                                   THE FLANNEL CAPE

When it comes to flannel, there is something rather nostalgic about it for me. I can remember back to my school days, and how soft and warm it was. It is comfort fashion at its best and having it made into a chic cape, is pretty amazing.

                                   COLORFUL PATTERNS

Playful attitudes of color can be spotted in bold choices of printed textile. Mix them up with vintage pieces and you are sure to be creating trends that others will admire!

                                  SCHOOL GIRL INSPIRED

Chic versions of childhood attire is a fun way to remember your past while celebrating your present.
From sleek overalls, to school uniform skirts, there are fun ways to add playfulness to a rather bland world.

                                        BLACK and BEIGE

If elegance and sophistication is something your desire, definitely try the color combination black and beige. There is no way to screw up this magical duo. Try it,  style it, love it.

                                         THE RED SKIRT

There is something about the perfect "red skirt" that makes your feel flirty, beautiful, and unique. Figuring out which shade of red or what shape is right for you may take a lot of trial and error, but well worth it!

Fall Daily Essential: Scarf Obsession!

A scarf is the focal point of your entire outfit, and it defines the mood of your Fall style. What is your scarf saying about you?
One of the most popular mistakes people make, is buying a scarf without considering how you will wear it.  A scarf is just as much functional as fashionable, and therefore, careful calculations are necessary.
Will your Fall coat match? Is it warm enough? It is versatile in function? Does the color compliment your face?
Many times people just pick a scarf they like without even trying it on, but this is not to your benefit at all. You may adore emerald green, but the question is, does it compliment you? Check it against your skin tone, hair or eye color, and see if it suits you.

These are my 5 Favorite types of scarves!

                                      ARTSY PATTERNS

A scarf is a brilliant way to add character to a rather orthodox outfit. Use it to add a pop of color, texture, or a bit of character.  Make a statement, and never be forgotten.

                                         BLANKET SCARF

A blanket scarf is "cozy" at its max. It is a relaxed casual that looks chic without trying.
It is sure to keep you warm on the coldest days, and best of all, you can cuddle up with it all day.

                                        CASHMERE LOVE

The look of a cashmere scarf is always luxurious and decadent. It is as soft as can be, and it frames your face with such warmth and softness. The perfect scarf for those days you just want to relax and unwind.

                                       LONG KNIT SCARF

Those long wrap around knit scarves are a fun way to add texture to your fall look. The different lengths around the length add interest to the eye, and creates a casual fun look.

                                             FUR SCARF

A fur scarf, is a glamorous way to add spice to your style. It is soft to the touch and beautiful to see. Just having it near your neck,  it is sure to light up your face and keep you warm.

Fall Daily: 5 Ways to Style Happiness into Your Life

Happiness.
Like a distant rainbow, happiness is a never ending chase towards the beauty of life. It is an emotion, an attitude, and a direction.
The thing most of us do not realize is, it is also a way of life. The choices we make, no matter how minuscule, are creating future responses that trigger various emotions.
Our 5 human senses: sight, taste, smell, sound, and touch work as doors that welcome or reject happiness. Here are 5 ways to inject a bit of happiness into your life.

                                               SIGHT

What do you see?
Are you wearing something that lifts your spirits, or is it just another "whatever" type lounge-wear?
What we see can make us laugh, smile, or just spark positive changes in mood.
It may be the color, design, word, or style, but the key is knowing what works for you.
Surround yourself with beautiful scenery, uplifting home decor, and clothes you love. It is sure to lift your spirits.

                                              TASTE

Eat Happiness.
We all have that little treat that is sure to put a smile on our face. The happiness may only last an instant, but during hard times, those moments will be your savior.
Eat healthy, cook with love, and start eating yourself some happiness.

                                                 SMELL

Smells Happy?
Perfumes are a very complex matter. Each smell will create a different emotion, and differentiating which is which, takes a bit of maturity. The easiest way to describe a happy smell, is by using the "smile meter". You may not pin point why it is making  you feel happy, but you should be able to instantly feel your spirits lift.

                                                TOUCH

A Touch of Happiness.
All throughout the day we touch things. More than we realize, these textures are effecting our mood. Pick clothing fabrics that feel good to your touch, and make a mental note. These touch signals push positivity in your day, rather than annoyance.

                                                SOUND

Sounds like Happiness?

Just as loud pounding music in the middle of the night can drive you insane, sweet lovely music can chirp delight. I highly recommend creating a playlist of "happy" music for those days something dreadful is brewing and you just don't have time to spiral into a depression.
No disrespect to sadness, brewing in misery with amazingly sad music is also a killer experience.
It's all a matter of timing, and knowing when and where to listen to what.

PS: The quickest way for an instant smile is taking your lipstick on your bathroom mirror and drawing a tiny happy face. I know it sounds ridiculous, but is that not the point? Anyways, I guarantee it will trigger a tiny chuckle and before you know it, you are smiling. :)

Fall Daily: Scarlett style and Empowerment (Gone with the Wind)

Gone with the Wind, is a movie that was created in 1939 and won 10 Academy Awards.
The starlet, is no other than Vivien Leigh, who played the fiery fire cracker that blazes through the hardships of love, life, civil war and reconstruction. She is beautiful, vivacious, witty, spoiled, and rather bratty. However, what makes her motivational is her strength to survive.
Her fashion represents this strength while her posture, voice, and style support it.

Fit for a queen, she is a woman of strength, beauty, and life. This is her style:

                                            REGAL STYLE

Walter Plunkett, was the genius behind all the costume designs from this movie. All of her clothes are fit for a queen, with glorious fabrics, and intricate details. The shoulders are broad, the waste small and the skirt quite full and glorious.

                                   SHOW STOPPER STYLE

When I first saw this movie, I was around 7 or 8 years old. I can still remember watching the scene when Scarlett came out in this amazing red dress! It is one of those moments where your mouth drops, and you are left stunned.
Such a dynamic display of beauty, fashion, and confidence it is mesmerizing!  Most people could not pull off such a powerful dress, but on the right person it creates the most unforgettable fashion moment.

                                      CREATIVE STYLE

One of my favorite scenes in the movie is when Scarlett takes the curtains from her home to make this gorgeous dress. You can see what parts use to be curtains and yet it is so uniquely inspired.

                                         EMPOWERMENT

"As God is my witness, as God is my witness they're not going to lick me. I'm going to live through this and when it's all over, I'll never be hungry again. No, nor any of my folk. If I have to lie, steal, cheat or kill. As God is my wintess, I'll never be hungry again."

- Scarlett O'hara (1939, Gone with the Wind)

This quote is my favorite moment in the entire movie, because it is self empowering. Here is a girl who was spoiled, bratty, and weak, but she is now resurrecting from her lowest moment and spreading her wings.
Of course I do not believe anyone should ever "lie, steal, cheat, or kill" but the aspect of hitting rock bottom and choosing to be empowered is beautiful.

Fall Daily: How I Use Fashion to Get Over Heartbreak

Heart break is a very private, heavy, and treacherous obstacle for anyone to overcome. The greater the love, the greater pain.
I have basically lived the last 6 years of my life with this thing called "heartbreak". The best way I can describe it is like an emotional pedal note that rings heavy undertones throughout my current existence. What's one way to deal with it? Fashion.

What you choose to wear, has an attitude, emotion, and power. If you dress powerful you feel powerful. You may have no control of the pain in your heart, but the first step to achieving some  what of a life, is regaining back that power.

You have 2 options.Take advantage of the situation and make yourself better, or let the situation ruin you and settle for something that was not meant for you.

I choose to become a powerful woman. Here is the first step to getting you there!

 MY POWERFUL WOMAN STYLE

                                  LEATHER AND STUDS

In the past couple of years I have grown a love for leather and studs. I never actually saw myself as the type to wear a leather biker jacket, with studded black boots, but, it is empowering. You really walk a little stronger, and care a little less.

                                     STRONG BLAZER

A strong blazer is masculine in nature. It pulls your shoulders back,  in a way that allows you to be all business. You don't need a man, or a woman. All you need is a goal, a plan, and the energy to do all the work to get there.

                                       BLACK POWER

Black interestingly enough, is not a color, but the absence of color. Wearing black is powerful. There is something somber within it that allows you to collect your thoughts and sort them out. I always feel more organized and in control of my life when I wear all black.

                 STRONG ACCESSORIES and HARSH LINES

Clothes that are cut harshly, create edges, transmitting powerful energy. This type of style keeps me pushing forward, and not looking back. Add some some strong accessories and you are ready to conquer the world!

HAIR THAT MAKES YOU FEEL POWERFUL

Pulling back your hair in a chic, tight bun behind your head, makes you feel empowered. Unlike flowing long hair, or wispy bangs, there is no room to hide. There is a refreshing quality to having nothing fall on your face, and a level of added confidence in showing your entire face uninterrupted.

Take care!

Fall Daily: Candle Light Inspired Style

There is nothing quite like the gentle glow of a softly lit candle. It is a romantic combination of fragility and power. Similar to love, it is capricious and unpredictable.
Just as easily as it can be blown out, it can also burn into a raging flame of destruction. It is a beauty that requires a playful balance between dark and light, climaxing only in complete partnership.

Wouldn't it be amazing to achieve such appeal in your Fall fashion style?

CANDLE LIGHT STYLE

Candle light Style, is inspired by pulling the 3 most beautiful aspects of Candle Light.

1.) Color
The main colors of candlelight is an ombre effect around the color orange. It ranges from orange modulating shades towards white and in reverse towards black.

(Basic colors: Orange, burnt orange, copper, brown, black, yellow, white, and some golds.)

2.) Power and Femininity
Candle lit style is a combination of powerful mystery, and ultra femininity. It is in this aspect a lone that candle light style is unbelievably romantic and sexy. You can achieve this style by mixing soft materials with harsher accessories, or vice versa.
For example, a romantic soft boho, cream colored blouse, against harsh chocolate brown leather pants, bridged together with the warmth of beautiful orange accessories, is candle light style.

3.) Sparkle and Light
The beauty of candle light is obviously the light itself. Therefore, to achieve the style it involves some form of sparkle, glimmer, or shine. You can either add the glimmer through your make up, and allow your face to shine like a chandelier. Or you could use jewelry or accessories to playful maneuver the reflection of lights.

Enjoy!

Fall Daily: My Umbrella Style!

Umbrella style is all about featuring your umbrella and working around it. When I use to live in a colder region I would always consider my coat, umbrella, rain boots, gloves, scarf, and bag, as a unified outfit. It is essential to consider how these garments all work together, rather than purchasing each one with an individualistic idea.

Start off by knowing what you are working with and what you need. Do you already own a beautiful coat or bag?
Lets say you have a beautiful forest green, cashmere coat, and matching rain boots.
Now lets go find a beautiful umbrella with a tiny bit of green but maybe a bit more eccentrically colored. Pull out the colors of the umbrella and look for a scarf that mimics the artsy style of the umbrella.
From there, I would keep the tones of the gloves and handbag as similar as possibly avoiding too much noise.
The trick is balancing color, style and texture. Don't overwhelm too many ideas at once. Edit, and avoid looking like a hot mess.

Good Luck!
