Fashion Challenge Day 5: OOTD "Rainy Sunday"

Happy Sunday! Today's OOTD is my ultra relaxed style. The color palette is grey and black, but I used various textures of grey to spice up a rather simple look. The blouse is vintage, and sparkles a crystal like grey. The sweater is cashmere, and off sets the sparkle nicely. The scarf is an infinity style, with reversible black and silver stars. The boots are a mixture of canvas grey and leather.

The entire outfit was inspired by the weather today.  It has been raining softly all day, creating a rather mysterious kind of atmosphere. The clouds are a heavy grey and there was a thick layer of mist, much depicted in the poem's of Edgar Allan Poe.
There is something great about these types of rainy days. I enjoyed a nice walk through the park and took time to hear the birds, the trees, and my thoughts.
I hope all of you had a relaxing Sunday!

Fashion Challenge Day 4: OOTD "Classic Glamour"

My Saturday OOTD, is a a dark navy, knit dress. It is an incredibly comfortable dress, but it does hug every curve on the body, making it necessary to eat a light dinner. This look is perfect for an evening out that may require a bit of glamour, but still remain semi casual. I styled it with a brown leather belt, matching it with an antique necklace I found in Europe many years back. I decided to add a bit of softness by letting my hair down in soft curls.

Fashion Challenge Day 3: OOTD "It's a Cape Kind of Day"

Today's OOTD is relaxed, easy, and fun. The cape was purchased in France several years back and it is made of silk and lace. The neckline reminds me of the iconic Renaissance ruffle. It is flowy, bouncy, and light, with a slight "old world" touch.
Perhaps, for people living in colder regions, such a cape is not warm enough for Winter, but here it works as just the right touch of warmth. For accessories, I chose pearl elements and layered them around my neck and wrists. Earrings were a elegant drop pearl.

Fashion Challenge Day 2: OOTD "Going to an Art Exhibition"

Fashion Challenge Day 2 is an artsy look based on pushing my creative limits. Today, I was loving this electric blue transparent top by Gianfranco Ferre. The top creates amazing lines against the skin, and I matched it with a light cropped sweater to add some interesting textures. The sweater on top, is actually worn back words, with the brand label removed. It gives a very nice ballerina effect, and becomes a sexy  low back. This is a technique I have used for years, and it doubles your wardrobe immediately. Don't hesitate to take your clothes and flip it around, pull it inside out, or wear it upside down. You maybe surprised how amazing it may look.

Fashion Challenge Day 1: My "Press Event" OOTD

Today's outfit is completely styled around the most amazing leather jacket by Rebecca Minkoff. It was a gift to me for the Holidays and it is embellished with a million pearls. If you have read my, "2015 Resolutions", it is one of my goals for this year to add a bit more edge into my style, and wearing a black, motorcycle jacket is very outside the box for me.
The entire look is a bit, Marie Antoinette, a pinch Chanel, and a dash of My Fair Lady. It is uniquely my own style, and photo ready for today's press event! (Fashion Tip 101: When in doubt always take a picture of your outfit before a press event. Sometimes unsuspecting fabrics become transparent with powerful camera flash.)

I hope you join me on this challenge and hashtag your looks with #2015fashionchallenge !
Don't forget to push yourself to try new things!

My 2015 Fashion Resolutions

Happy New Year! Can you believe it is already 2015?
I know it is common for everyone to create a "New Year's Resolution" but for me, it is equally important to create a "Fashion Resolution". Believe it or not, we all pick up boring habits throughout the year and a simple list like this keeps your style fresh, imaginative, and on point.

My Top 5 Fashion Resolutions for 2015 are:

1.) Think Outside the Box:
I know what colors, fabrics, style, and cut, look best on my body type, however, sometimes, such a mind set, inhibits any risk. I find myself gravitating into items that are very similar to each other, and failing to give new ideas a shot. This 2015, I would like to discover new ways to play with body shape, and redefine many aspects of what I consider, beautiful.

2.) Focus on Accessories:
My new obsession for 2015 is creating and finding amazing accessories. I have quite a large wardrobe collection, but I feel my style can be enhanced with a more eclectic, collection of unique art accessories. The whole idea is to complete an entire "idea", from head to toe, poetry.

3.) Sustainable Fashion:
If you follow my blog you will know that I am a strong advocate of Sustainable fashion. I put monthly posts regarding this issue "Fashion Heart" and would like to continue this for 2015. I am extremely passionate about creating wearable style that is eco-conscious, and eliminating the misconception of fashion and materialism being somehow intertwined. I hope to not only promote more awareness but to create ways to have style without having a"wasteful" attitude.

4.) Try Something New:
My style is rather conservative, and proper. It always has been and it probably always will be. However, every year I challenge myself to try a style I never could imagine myself doing. For 2015 it will be to style and wear a black leather jacket. This idea makes me chuckle a bit, but there is something about the edginess of a black motorcycle jacket that always made me think, "very cool, but not for me?" Anyways, I received the most amazing black leather jacket, studded with pearls by Rebecca Minkoff, and I have decided to not be afraid and go for it. Wearing such a "cool" piece calls for some wardrobe tweeking but, I am definitely up for the challenge.

5.) Find New Life in Old Pieces:
I think we all have those coveted few pieces we love and wear, over and over again. However, I want to make it a priority this year to give love to those pieces shoved to the back of the closet and still stuck with the price labels. It is just a matter of lazy habit, but it is rather wasteful. Some pieces are just easier to wear, I know they look good, and they are easier to style. However, this year I want to make it a priority to challenge myself to find fun ways to style those clothes and wear them out.
