What's in My Summer Bag 2015? (Summer Tips on Packing Lighter)

Summer is one of those months with multiple personalities. It is fun and festive in one sense, but equally draining, and tiresome in other ways. The weather is hot and sticky and the last thing I want to carry around is a massive bag with a truckload of unnecessary items.

My summer love is for my Rebecca Minkoff Mini Mac. It is compact, easy to carry, and surprisingly capable of holding more than I thought.  Nevertheless, it is small, and wise choices and heavy editing need to be made.

Here are my tips on packing lighter for Summer:

The Essentials:

The first step to minimizing baggage is to pick out your essential items.
-keys
-wallet (If you have a larger wallet, it would be helpful to try minimizing to a smaller one.)
-phone
-sunglasses
-medication
-business cards
-foundation

Staying Cool

This is totally not a necessity but having one quirky fun item is something I recommend to put a smile on your face. Currently, I am loving this beautiful Japanese fan and pulling it out to cool off. I spritz it with my favorite perfume and it is a great way to relax and escape from reality.

Food

Keep food items at a minimum and stay away from any candies that melt. Pick one nutritional bar and and a small pack of minty gum. Nutrition bars are great at perking up your sugar levels, while minty gum is a great way to stay fresh and cool. The combination of the two is more than enough.

Make-Up

During the Summer, less is more. The only make up I carry is a small foundation. I advise carrying some sunscreen and lip balm as it is essential at all times.
Think, beachy, no fuss face make up with a sun kissed glow.

Take care.

Summer Favorites and Easy Style

With the arrival of August, Summer is at its peak and the hottest days of the year are here.
My style during these last weeks of 'glorious' sun, is easy, breezy and effortless.
All my accessories are in a warm rose-gold hue, and my clothes are mainly white.

My Current Favorites:  (as seen above)

-Rebecca Minkoff, White/Rose Gold, Mini Mac
-Michael Kors, Rose Gold Sneakers,
-Marie Antoinette  Cuff, and Harrods Charm Bracelet
-Nordstrom's Rose Gold Ring
-Zara Statement Necklace

My daily 'Go to " accessories make pulling together a styled head to toe look, effortless and chic. I currently wear mostly white, and breathable fabrics such as cotton. The key is to set an accessory grouping that is versatile. Going from day to night should be effortless. Whether it be a casual white T-shirt and boyfriend jeans,  or a crisp white contemporary dress, I am wearing  fashion that allows me to celebrate life, rather fashion that wears me down.

Fashion Challenge Day 1: My "Press Event" OOTD

Today's outfit is completely styled around the most amazing leather jacket by Rebecca Minkoff. It was a gift to me for the Holidays and it is embellished with a million pearls. If you have read my, "2015 Resolutions", it is one of my goals for this year to add a bit more edge into my style, and wearing a black, motorcycle jacket is very outside the box for me.
The entire look is a bit, Marie Antoinette, a pinch Chanel, and a dash of My Fair Lady. It is uniquely my own style, and photo ready for today's press event! (Fashion Tip 101: When in doubt always take a picture of your outfit before a press event. Sometimes unsuspecting fabrics become transparent with powerful camera flash.)

I hope you join me on this challenge and hashtag your looks with #2015fashionchallenge !
Don't forget to push yourself to try new things!

My top 5 Runway Picks

The first dress is by Zac POSEN. By far my most favorite collection so far, a work of pure genius! Like soft petals of flowers, all the models were divine, elegant, and feminine. All edges were softly done and the feminity of being a woman were celebrated. A collection of pure poetry. The models, were so light and airy they might as well have been floating. The second dress is by Charlotte Ronson. Her collection was young, flirty, and floral. A very vivacious and youthful collection, giving all the models a bounce in their step. The floral prints fluttered through the runway with playful attitude and I don't think there was a girl at fashion Week who didn't want to walk away with one of these mini dresses. The third dress is by Custo Barcelona, and this collection was clever. It celebrated geometric shapes and bright colors. It was fun and new. The lines were harder than POSEN but it left an impression in my mind making it my 3rd top pick. The fourth dress is by Desigual. A collection bursting with color, best described as looking through a kaleidoscope. Every model, walking past with edge, but whimsical fun. Textile graphics were new and fresh. The fifth dress is by Rebecca Minkoff. This collection is Flowy, foral, and alive! The colors represent spring and the life that it holds. Like a garden of color, every dress in the collection, stood as beautiful reflection on Spring.

NY Fashion Week 2014 Spring

From Charlotte Ronsons flirty fun to Custo Barcelona's Colorful, fun edge, Fashion Week is stirring up a storm. From backstage sneak peeks, and hairdos, new twists on messy braids are everywhere. Spring has never been, flirtier, lighter, softer, and more inspired than ever before. xx -Maya
